Mentoring at Honda
Context and Objectives:
In the context of a company where dynamism and innovation are fundamental, the need to enhance the ability of managers and senior managers in managing change emerged. With the aim of improving this crucial skill, a Group Coaching path was started.
Course Structure:
- Preparation and Goal Setting:
A preliminary meeting between us and the company’s managers allowed us to clearly define the objectives of the course. The central theme chosen was “Change Management”, with the aim of developing effective strategies to address and guide changes within the organization.
Online questionnaires and interviews were used to define the composition of the groups and understand the specific needs of each participant.
- Group Coaching Sessions:
Session 1: Introduction to Competency and Goal Setting
Each member of the group defined their own development goals, associating specific KPIs and creating a personalized action plan.
Session 2: Comparison and Feedback
During this session, participants presented their action plans and received constructive feedback from other group members and the coach. The goal was to broaden reflection and stimulate the generation of new ideas.
Session 3: Development and Problem-Solving
Focus on solving specific problems related to change management. Participants worked on concrete cases, using brainstorming and role-playing methodologies to explore innovative solutions.
The coach stimulated the discussion with exploratory questions, encouraging participants to reflect on different perspectives and strategies.
Session 4: Evaluation and Final Planning
Individual and group progress review. Each participant presented progress toward their goals and discussed challenges encountered.
The group reflected on their shared experiences and updated their action plans, consolidating skills learned and planning next steps to keep the change going.
Results and Impacts:
Increased Adaptability: Participants developed a greater ability to address and lead changes, with significant improvement in their problem-solving and risk management skills.
Improved Collaboration: The comparison and mutual support have strengthened the relationships within the group, improving communication and collaboration between members.
Sustainability of Change: Thanks to the coaching approach, participants have acquired tools and mindsets that continue to support them in the long term, ensuring more effective and sustainable change management.
Participant Feedback:
“The coaching group has been fundamental to my personal and professional growth. I have learned to see change as an opportunity rather than a threat.”
“The interaction with colleagues and the support of the coach enriched my perspective and gave me concrete tools to apply what I learned.”
In summary, the Group Coaching journey was a transformative experience for participants, strengthening their change management skills and contributing to the company’s ongoing success.
